Any activity done during a process that consumes resources but does not add value in the eyes of the customer. Typically 95% of activities are Non-Value Added in a process. The 7 types of waste: Transportation, Inventory, Defect, Overproduction, Over processing, Excessive motion, Waiting. The aim is to eliminate or reduce these wastes. Required Waste: required activities which do not transform the service delivered but are necessary e.g. audit, reports. Pure Waste: non add value activities which must be eliminated.
