Batch vs Flow

Understanding how material flows through a system either many at a time (batch) or few (flow). Use this tool to understand where improvements should be made to move toward a flow process. Steps to achieve your goal: Go to the Gemba and understand the process ; identify which characteristics of the process drive batched; calculate takt time; complete an Activity Analysis of the process; complete a load chart for the process; determine what activities are necessary to remove waste and balance the process.
